Adrian Burrell (MFA ‘21) wins 2024 Rainin Foundation Fellowship and releases new book
This fellowship includes a $100,000 unrestricted grant, recognizing Burrell’s contributions to the Bay Area’s cultural scene.
Adrian Burrell (MFA ‘21) has been awarded the 2024 Rainin Arts Fellowship by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation.
Burrell has also recently released his first monograph, Sugarcane & Lightning (Minor Matters, 2023).
“Sugarcane and Lightning is a mixtape of black life and American history from a familial perspective. This is about messages to the future, reparations, inheritance, and initiation. This is about the blackening of the world, revenge, the fugitive, movement, and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, and where we come from.”
