Jon Ayon (MFA ‘21) joins UC Santa Cruz as Assistant Professor in the Film & Digital Media Department

UC Santa Cruz has announced the addition of Jon Ayon (MFA ‘21) as an Assistant Professor in the Film & Digital Media Department.

Jon Ayon, a Mestizo (Comcáac/Pipil/Xicano/Salvadoreño) filmmaker, focuses on issues pertinent to the Mestize/Latine-American experience, including broken Indigenous kinship systems, internalized colonialism, Ulysses syndrome, and generational trauma.

Ayon’s Stanford thesis film No Soy Óscar won Full Frame’s 2022 President’s Award and was nominated for the David L. Wolper Award at the 2021 IDA awards.
