Stanford MFA alums at Sundance 2022
Two Stanford Alums are premiering their first feature documentaries at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2022.
In Reid Davenport ‘s (‘16) I Didn't See You There, a disabled filmmaker, spurred by the spectacle of a circus tent that goes up outside his Oakland apartment, launches into an unflinching meditation on freakdom, (in)visibility, and the pursuit of individual agency. (Image ID: In a reflection of an unmarked storefront is a grayish silhouette of a man using an electric wheelchair. Behind the man is a spectacular red and yellow circus tent. Underneath the photo is a magenta banner with three yellow semicircles and an orange circle, and the words “Sundance Film Festival 2022” in black.)
In Meg Smaker’s (‘14) Jihad Rehab a group of men trained by Al-Qaeda are transferred from Guantanamo to a rehabilitation center for extremists.
