Three thesis films by recent graduates of the Stanford MFA Documentary Film program have been selected for the 2025 True/False Film Festival, taking place from February 29 to March 3 in Columbia, Missouri.

The selected films are:

  • Animal Eye by Carlo Nasisse (MFA '24): A 13-minute exploration of animal vision, blending scientific inquiry with philosophical contemplation.
  • No se ve desde acá (You Can't See It From Here) by Enrique Pedráza-Botero (MFA '23): A spatial exploration of Miami, examining the American Dream amidst immigrant mobilization and wealth disparity.
  • Entre le Feu et le Clair de Lune by Dominic Yarabe (MFA '24): Shot in Côte d'Ivoire and the U.S., the film follows an Ivorian father and daughter as they complete his unfinished book about childhood war experiences.

Additionally, Hold Me Close co-directed by alumna Aurora Brachman (MFA '21) is playing at the fest.

The True/False Film Festival, 22 years in existence, is renowned for championing creative nonfiction and pushing the boundaries of documentary filmmaking. Current second-year students in the program will be attending the festival together with faculty.
